An American History student from the 1950's looks at what might have gone right and what might have gone wrong in the past 60 years. A somewhat unique take on the subtle manner in which the wealthy elite have accumulated an ever increasing share of the tremendous wealth which has been created in the USA. Included is a proposal to reshape the tax debate with a definition of fairness as the major objective.

Have the Robber Barons of the 20's been reincarnated? This short book examines wealth distribution and ways a system can be skewed towards the 1%. It does this in an entertaining and interesting way. I do have a master's degree in finance and despite the prior bad review, a lot of the economics in this book are sound (unless you believe in trickle down economics). I don't agree with everything, but when do economists ever agree on everything? A must read for the 99%. Then apply your own critical thinking on the subject. Full disclosure, the author is my uncle. However, I would not have written a review if I did not think the book was great.

Geezer Rap eBook Douglas Lowe Jakob Rooney Reviews

No one actually considered how skewed our tax system really is. Geezer Rap helps shed a little light to how the system works.
In spite of the review by Mr. Baldridge, I read Geezer Rap. I believe that it is Mr. Baldridge who has
"no understanding of economics, capitalism, or our Constitution". As our nation faces the challenge
of addressing inequality, an issue that threatens our very democracy, this short book offers a valuable look
at one of the issues that got us where we are today. It also offers a subtle approach to a solution. I give
it five stars.
In this short volume the author has made serious attempt to demystify the reasons for the increasing gap between the average person and the wealthy elite. Using everyday examples in the case of Social Security, IRA's, 529 plans and estate taxes, and asking the question "who benefits from a specific change in the tax code" he shows how changes over recent years have consistently had the effect of redistributing income up the food chain from the poor and middle class to the wealthy. Even the Roth IRAs have now been opened to high earners This has been enabled by members of both parties reaching its pinnacle with the irresponsible Bush tax cuts. While he proposes only a conceptual approach to solving this, he has raised important questions about the issue.
I know the author personally and was looking forward to reading the book.

I was terribly disappointed. It is rife with errors, faulty reasoning and tortured logic. He has no understanding of economics, capitalism or our Constitution.

Spend your money elsewhere.
Great information on how the government continues to benefit the rich with laws. Appreciated the research from Mr. Lowe. Should be reading for anyone concerned with our national debt.
Mr. Lowe uses clear and concise examples in his argument. This book is very easy to follow and packs an encyclopedia of information in one easy to read piece of writing. I look forward to reading more books by the author!
